Responsibilities:
-Analyst: Used SQL to provide data-informed recommendations to teams across boundless to improve player retention, increase revenue, and improve the gameplay experience
Most of what I did on Marvel Strike Force is under NDA, but while I was an analyst I developed a testing methodology to allow the product team to understand how player’s perceived the values of various in-game resources. Using MSF’s “split choice offers” I served players paired offers of every combination of two resources in the game using our internal valuations for how much they were worth, then my colleague stack ranked player preference of each resource, which allowed us to revise our internal evaluations for each resource based on player demand. This process took long enough that I actually transferred to the product team about halfway through and took over the product side implementation of all the offers. Now MSF has a tool that allows them, using data, to accurately monitor and predict consumer demand for individual resources.
-Entry Product Manager: Designed offers and events to provide players fun and engaging opportunities to spend while feeling good about doing so.
As a product manager my primary responsibility was designing implementing in-game offers using MSF’s backend tool SPARX. I both designed my own offers and implemented the offers of more senior Product Managers. When designing offers, I leaned heavily on data provided by the analytics team and our Dashboards to fill needs the players were experiencing and make offers that felt good to buy.
The largest offer suite I ever designed was the 2021 Black Friday Sale which contained hundreds of offers and produced an amount of revenue I cannot disclose but am very proud of.
I also designed and implemented the tie-in event suite for the Thor: Love and Thunder theatrical release. This involved using excel to model how much value players could extract from the event at a variety of engagement levels and determining which rewards players would get for completing each event milestone. I also worked closely with the 2D art team to help them produce assets that would connect the event to the film. My favorite part was getting to come up with the names, I’m honestly a little surprised they let me get away with Space Viking.
Favorite thing I did on this project: Rebalanced Free-to-Play gold fountains to decrease churn among that audience by allowing them to be more competitive with paid users. I would love to talk more about this, it was very fun.
